The pipe fittings industry has promising prospects for future development.
First, a multi‑faceted ring shell with a polygonal cross‑section or a multi‑faceted sectorial shell closed at both ends is welded. After the interior is filled with a pressurized medium, internal pressure is applied; under this pressure, the polygonal cross‑section gradually transforms into a circular shape, ultimately forming a circular ring shell. When selecting stamped elbows, careful attention must be paid to material selection, as the choice of material can, to a certain extent, determine the overall quality of the pipeline. Elbows are classified by angle into three standard types—45°, 90°, and 180°—with additional non‑standard angles such as 60° also available depending on project requirements. Materials used for elbows include cast iron, stainless steel, alloy steel, malleable cast iron, carbon steel, non‑ferrous metals, and plastics. With future technological advancements and evolving operating conditions, new demands will arise regarding the physicochemical properties of pipe fittings. Consequently, more specialized pipe‑fitting varieties tailored to diverse service environments are expected to emerge, requiring manufacturers to continuously develop innovative products in response to market needs. Over the foreseeable future, large‑scale downstream industries such as construction and machinery—key consumers of wear‑resistant elbows—will continue to play a vital role in China’s industrialization and urbanization processes. Steel pipe (or black iron pipe) was once the more popular choice for conveying water and combustible gases. Steel pipe is still widely used in many homes and businesses to transport natural gas or propane fuel, and it serves as a highly favored heat‑resistant material in automatic sprinkler systems. In commercial buildings, fittings are employed to convey heating or cooling water, as well as in heat exchangers, air‑conditioning systems, variable‑air‑volume (VAV) air‑handling units, and other HVAC equipment. Steel pipes are joined by threaded connections; sometimes tapered threads are cut at the pipe ends (see National Pipe Thread), and sealing agents—such as thread‑sealing compounds or thread‑sealing tape (also known as PTFE tape)—are applied.
